Mostafa Koschcheshm, a professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Tehran, states that the US–Iran agreement will collapse if Washington does not honor its commitment to restrain Israel in Lebanon. Senior Iranian officials have made it clear that, if the terms of the truce are violated, including the continuation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon, then Tehran will engage in retaliation and will strike Israel, Koschcheshm told Al Jazeera. "Therefore, everything now depends on how the United States will control the Israeli attacks," he stated. According to him, this situation is difficult to be accepted by Israel and intensifies the cracks inside the Israeli government. He added that Iran now "dictates the terms and the new order of things in the Middle East." Koschcheshm also argued that Israel may "do whatever it can" to "undermine" the US–Iran agreement, which is why "everything depends on Trump and on how faithful he will remain to his words and to the text he signed."
