NATO could block the access of Russia to the Gulf of Finland, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna.
«We are able to deploy within a few hours a force of 50,000 experienced military personnel with combat experience. [...] We could blockade the Baltic Sea within a few hours», stated the Estonian minister, according to the British newspaper The Times.
Margus Tsahkna argued that, beyond the blockade of Kaliningrad, such a move could also deprive Russia of revenue from raw material exports.
During the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Moscow will use all available forces and means in the event of an attack against the region.
At the same time, he emphasized that Russia itself does not threaten anyone and does not intend to attack any country, neither in 2029, nor in 2030, nor in 2050.
