MAGA landing in Greece: Revelations of Guilfoyle’s influence, texts to Mitsotakis and the 3 ministers at her beck and call

"Sometimes he couldn't speak because he was with other people," the US Ambassador said regarding Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou. "I said: 'I don't care. You don't have to speak. Just listen.'"

Images of complete alignment and backstage consultations exposing the Greek government—which appears to have turned Greece into a US backyard—are being revealed... The influence of MAGA on the Greek government is nearly scandalous, and as everything suggests, this is not a diplomatic approach but a corporate "landing" orchestrated by the US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle. From text messages on the mobile phone of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the "obedience" of top ministers, Maximos Mansion seems to be transforming into Donald Trump’s most willing ally in Europe. After all, Guilfoyle's admission that top ministers (such as Giorgos Gerapetritis, Nikos Dendias, and Vassilis Kikilias) remain in a state of constant readiness, responding to her calls even on weekends, raises serious questions.

Trump speech with the Acropolis as a backdrop

The relationship between Greece and the US is outlined in a particularly biting report by Politico titled: "Greece bets big on MAGA as other EU nations distance themselves from Trump."1_1149.jpg

No one should be surprised by the fact that the US Ambassador in Athens is urging President Donald Trump to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence in the birthplace of democracy with a speech at the Acropolis this summer. For his part, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis overemphasizes the role of "Greek thinkers" in inspiring the US founding fathers and promises the American President a warm welcome and a "good time" if he visits the country during the 1776 celebrations. US Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle confirmed this week that Trump will visit Greece but declined to comment on when. She is a leading figure in supporting the idea of Trump delivering a speech at the Acropolis—the sacred citadel overlooking the capital. "We’d all love that, wouldn't we?" she characterized. The Greek government views the United States—with its large naval base in Crete—as the ultimate security guarantor against an invasion by Turkey, and wishes to nullify the periodic "romance" between Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. For this reason, Greece is betting heavily on America and corporate deals, signing energy contracts and securing American investment in ports. These military and commercial ties between Washington and Athens are also supported by an increasingly strong ideological alignment, as New Democracy (ND) shifts further to the right. "This meant New Democracy's adoption of a hard line on migration and issues that align with MAGA, such as Christianity, Greek culture, and European identity. High-ranking New Democracy officials and Greek Trump fans are seizing the moment, mingling with MAGA officials who now regularly parade through Greece," the report notes.

The Kimberly touch

Since her arrival late last year, Guilfoyle has been in the spotlight with glamorous photo shoots, television appearances, and lavish galas. During her first week in office, Greece signed a deal with the American energy giant ExxonMobil to begin offshore drilling—the country's first such project in more than 40 years—with US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright in attendance. A few days later, Athens and Kyiv reached an agreement to import American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to help Ukraine cover its winter needs, making Greece the first EU country to participate in Washington's effort to replace "every last molecule of Russian gas" with American LNG.2_412.png

In her first interview in Greece, she outraged China by calling the ownership of the Port of Piraeus "unfortunate" and hinted that the issue could be "settled"—implying a potential sale. The Greek government quickly accelerated plans for a new port with American backing in Elefsina, near Athens. "Every day when I wake up in the morning, I'm going to find a way to promote American interests, money, infrastructure, working with Greece and our other allies in this region, and that means pushing back very aggressively on Chinese interests," Guilfoyle said in a discussion earlier this year with journalist Matthew Boyle of the right-wing platform Breitbart, who has become a regular fixture on Greek panels over the last two years. "I will do that every day, and I will do it without apology," she continued.

SMS to Mitsotakis

Critically, the US Ambassador to Greece also described her close ties with government officials, noting that she has open discussions with Mitsotakis, seeing him three to four times a week. "I text him and we talk on the phone. He really supports the US and wants to prove it—he really does," Guilfoyle said. She added that she also spoke daily with other ministers, who always responded to her requests. "Sometimes he couldn't speak because he was with other people," she said of Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou. "I said: 'I don't care. You don't have to speak. Just listen.'" "Foreign Minister [Giorgos] Gerapetritis, Defense Minister [Nikos] Dendias, and [Minister of Maritime Affairs] Vassilis Kikilias always answer the phone. It doesn't matter if it's the weekend. They come—if we meet at my house, they show up," she added.3_1154.jpg

The MAGA landing

The annual Delphi Economic Forum, a gathering of Greek business and political figures, has evolved into a major hub for discussions among MAGA personalities and operatives. Among those who traveled to Greece in late April were: US Ambassador to the EU Andrew Puzder, Christos Marafatsos, head of the "Greeks for Trump" group, Alex Bruesewitz, a Trump supporter and CEO of X Strategies, James Carafano of the Heritage Foundation, Paul Dans, architect of Project 2025, and Scott Atlas, Trump’s advisor on the coronavirus pandemic. "It’s good to have the US here to show what we're doing and make it clear that this is really the precursor to a battle between two superpowers: the United States and China. You have to pick a side," Dans told Politico. "We have a great affinity for Greece. Greek-Americans are certainly some of the most productive and beloved immigrants in America." Boyle from Breitbart also emphasized Greece’s central position in the MAGA vision. "Greece has emerged as one of the United States' greatest allies in President Trump's second term," he said. "They have truly embraced what the president is trying to achieve globally." In a panel discussion at Delphi, attendees took turns praising the president and his decisions on almost everything from Iran to tariffs. Guilfoyle listened intently and smiled broadly from the front row of the audience.
