Yanis Varoufakis, head of MeRA25, was a force of nature in his interview with BankingNews.gr's television channel, BNtv. Speaking to Angie Stathatou and Sotiris Pikoulas on the show "MAGGA," Mr. Varoufakis described the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras, as "perjured": "Stournaras is perjured because he violated National Law and the Statute of the Bank of Greece. He pre-announced a liquidity problem, resulting in 11 billion euros in deposits fleeing the country."

Recalling moments from the negotiations with the Troika prior to the 3rd Memorandum, Yanis Varoufakis referred to the behind-the-scenes actions, Stournaras's meetings with Mario Draghi, and the "role he played in the interest of the creditors." He noted that "we did not have a popular mandate to leave the Euro, but if necessary, we would have." As for 2014, "it is clear that the Troika brought down Antonis Samaras; Schäuble revealed this to me," says the president of MeRA25, adding that "the creditors' goal was to take our ports, the Public Power Corporation, the motorways, and 1.1 million homes of Greek citizens."

Lashing out against the banks and the games played at the expense of citizens, Yanis Varoufakis announced his party's plan: "We will bankrupt the banks because they function as parasites. As MeRA25, we will implement a digital payment system outside the banking system, similar to what was done in Brazil or India, through which you can be paid without necessarily holding a bank account," he says.

Although Yanis Varoufakis supports Alexis Tsipras regarding the comments heard in the SKAI documentary from the former German ambassador—who had a "conqueror's mentality"—he nevertheless believes the former Prime Minister "succumbed and joined the Troika, which is why his rebranding will not work." In this context, he does not consider any but two parties to belong to the Left: "Only KKE and MeRA25 are the Left; the others are capitulated former leftists," he says pointedly. As for the energy cartel? "SYRIZA set up the cartel, but Mitsotakis SA is responsible for the funds. The Mitsotakis government 'backs' the funds so they can take 50-60 billion euros out of Greece."

Finally, Yanis Varoufakis characterizes Androulakis's proposal for a 4-day work week as "ridiculous," while referring to Maria Karystianou, he argues that "her involvement with politics fades her image."
