Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is heading toward Washington, DC, in the US. During his visit, Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump, with both planning to discuss "matters of mutual interest to both countries," according to the official statement. This will mark the seventh visit by the Israeli official to the country since Trump assumed office in 2025.
Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently sparked controversy by declaring that he would like to assist in arresting Netanyahu. Mamdani noted that while he lacks such authority, he would not welcome the Israeli prime minister to New York. In 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. However, because the US is not a state party to the Rome Statute, it has no obligation to execute any arrest warrant issued by the court.
